The Orange Democratic Movement party leader Hon Raila Amolo Odinga has broken his silence after President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law the contentious Political Parties Amendment bill after it was passed by the National Assembly and the Senate.
The former Prime Minister has stated that the Azimio la Umoja slogan will now be registered as a movement next week. This means that it will now be a coalition as well as a political party.
Raila Odinga is looking to run for Presidency under the Azimio la Umoja movement and all the political parties that are supporting his candidature will be under the Azimio umbrella.
However, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga might suffer a setback after the DP Ruto camp threatened to go to court to bar the law from taking effect. They had complained that some of the changes in election acts violates the constitution.
DP Ruto allies fought very hard to shut down the bill especially in the National Assembly but they lacked enough numbers to outnumber the Kieleweke camp. All attention will now focus on the two camps to see their next move.
