Reviewed at 6:00 p.m., an autopsy on the body of police officer Caroline Kangogo suggests she was shot dead after a bullet passed through her brain, head, and scalp.

“When I looked at the gunshot wound, it was a communication wound which meant the gun was in the skin,” he said.

Oduor said there was a hole caused by the bullet and areas of burns known as the muzzle imprint on the skin.

He said more investigations would be conducted to determine whether Kangogo had shot himself or was shot by someone else.

“We took the cloths from his hand to find out if there were any remains of the shooting, which would be able to tell us that,” Oduor said.

He said his job was to find the cause of his death but further laboratory investigations would help determine the cause of his death.

Oduor said according to an investigation report, the incident took place at the scene where the body was found.

Kangogo’s body arrived at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret on Tuesday before his burial in Elgeyo Marakwet district.

Circumstances surrounding his death sparked a major controversy especially on the internet as many Kenyans were questioning whether the officer had shot or killed himself by unknown individuals who may have been in control of the stadium where the body was found.

Her father, a former police officer, however, insisted that Caroline shot herself dead and that there was no need to speculate.

However, police have been investigating the case and have insisted that a postmortem be made.
