A heroic girl has rowed her pregnant mother across Lake Victoria to hospital last night at 3 am in morning. The 12-year-old girl has become the impression after rowing her pregnant mother to a hospital. This happened in Busia county. Virginia Aoko stated that her mother Judith Anyango called her at night in distress. Speaking to the Nation, Aoko thought that her small brother who had contracted Malaria had started a convulsion. They had moved from their home to a nearby camp after water submerged into their homes.
Aoko is in class seven at Budala Primary School. She found out that her mother was in labor and urgently required medical attention. Her father was out fishing in the deep lake , she now had to take up the mantle and bring her to safety. In the deep darkness, she brought her mother on board the boat and rowed her to hospital. “I was worried that if I did not act fast enough, she might lose the baby and perhaps die from the labor complications,” Virginia stated.
The Lake Victoria infested with water hyacinth, reeds, and foggy weather, but this did not stop her, she rowed close to two kilometers to Rukala Health center. “I didn’t want to lose my mother and become an orphan. I also knew if I didn’t take the risk she might have lost the baby,” Aoko described.
After arriving, the nurses tended to her mother who safely delivered a baby boy. What would you tell Virginia Aoko. Let us know below, follow, like, and share.
